An exchange of letters

Overnight I exchanged letters with an acquaintance in Beijing. I wrote "Where may cash be sent to aid the response to today's earthquake?". My acquaintance replied "I am not sure where can receive the donation. I watched TV yesterday. It said redcross can receive the donation. But I cannot access the website now."

I'll see what I can do to get more information.

Try Operation USA in Los Angeles, http://www.opusa.org/

They are very good, with only 2-3% of donations going to overhead. The rest is relief. That's an excellent ratio compared to several other higher profile organizations, including the Red Cross. Doctors Without Borders is good on that account too.
