August recess...
I've convinced Eric (no, I didn't leave marks) that we, like Congress and most of Europe, should take an August break, or holiday, and focus our blogging energy on other things we need to get done. For me, that's finally getting the Princeton Review LSAT prep books and figuring out just how much I need to hunker down and study for the December late September exams. For Eric, well, his court case has finally been resolved favorably (charges to be dismissed) and a new job is requiring his full attention.

So, no, it's not permanent. But I think, unless the sky starts falling, or Gale Norton is indicted, I'm following Congress' lead and cutting the apron-strings, er, cables. Oh, that's right, we're on satellite. Well, whatever, I'm outta here until Labor Day.
Update 8/8/07: Comments were down for some reason, but now are back up. I've worked my way through most of the Princeton Review, purchased the "Workout", and have on order the two Powerscore "bibles". Also picked up 10 of the official pretests. Please feel free to leave suggestions on how to better prepare. I'm taking them at San Luis Obispo, as all other testing centers in California were full when I signed up a couple days back. Suggestions for schools are always welcome as well - so far I have UC-Berkeley, Cornell, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, UWashington, George Washington, UC-Hastings, Iowa, UNC, Tulane, Colorado, UNM, and Oregon on my list of "maybes." (Hope I didn't miss any, those were off the top of my head.)
Update2: I'm willing to actually do the Koufaxes next year if we just, right here and now, give Chris Clarke the funniest goddamn post award. Granted, I've now wasted hours, hours, I should have spent studying. We now know who to blame if I don't get into Berkeley.

Try to sit for the LSAT before December. If you take the December test, by the time you get everything together and complete your application most law schools have met their quotas.

Practice games. Get fast on the games and you'll pick up points most won't even try for. Worked for me.

If you are in a city, you can do as some recent subjects of an article on the law profession in SFrancisco do[1]; http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/07/30/MNGHOR9DPM1.DTL&hw=lawyer+zen&sn=001&sc=1000
Yet, that next wave pictured in your article is inviting. In those photos I always wonder, 'what if the surfer looked over the shoulder to see how large that wave was compared to the size of a mere person on a waveboard?...' The joy of not knowing. The sense of skiffing quickly ahead, solely trusting one's agility, wits...
Then I click the mouse, and you are camping summer at some idyllic desert location. I suppose the message is the same as the city lawyers in the cited article, above, a lot of silence helps the mind develop.

Satellite?!? You need one of those Datastorm users gps coordinate links in you signature so we can still find you while you aren't posting.
I've been looking long and hard at a Hughesnet dish, but just can't find a good enough excuse for it.

So you won't come back to Maine to run for Congress in CD1, Mary Beth? There's a bunch of wishful-thinking-democrats in a primary that's shaping up to be very, very boring and really could use some grounding.

MB,
I was cleaning out the basement a few days ago and found 2 small binders full of my handwritten notes from studying for the NY Bar Exam in 2001. If I remember right, one binder was for the stuff that everyone needs to know regardless of the state and the other was specific to NY. If you have any interest in either/both, email me an address where I can send them and I'll get them out to you asap. If not, best of luck with the studying!

um...i probably should have mentioned that of course, the notes won't do you any good for the lsat, but if you're interested in having them for down the road, just in case...

Andy: Thanks. I've adjusted my schedule accordingly.
PJ: We actually have a Datastorm users ID, but I haven't updated us lately. I'll try and do that, though I think we'll be in the Salinas Valley for the foreseeable future.
Chris: Sorry, babe, you're on your own ;-D. But I happen to really like Chellie (gave her $1,000 back when we had money) and will support her (as well as Jill Duson or Mike Brennan) - anybody but Ethan.
Michael: If you don't mind hanging on to them, I might ask for them in the future. Right now, however, our storage space is really tight (living in a 30' trailer and all) and so only the essentials are allowable. But thanks so much for thinking of me!

The attorney of fame more or less needs to know why she's a lawyer. You already do. Sue the gates d''off.

Just testing, as the backend is screwy.

Take a bazillion of those pre-packaged tests, accept that the LSAT has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how you will do in law school, and remember that no client will ever ask you how you scored on the LSAT, what your GPA was in law school, or how many times you took the bar exam.

If you defeat the Blogwarbot, you should qualify for the degree without all the coursework.
