He switched from being the feisty insurgent, the outsider, to being the insider. He met with Senator Clinton and the rest of the inside-the-beltway consultaratti. He didn't run against the money he wouldn't get anyway, and in the insurance state he didn't run single-payer. There's more, but this is why Joe Lieberman is Senator Lieberman, and not some clapped out trans-party hack, when he drones on about how the Bush Regime should attack Iran.
