Where to start? The 2004 Plum Book
In light of Murray Waas' stunning article on the expansive hire/fire power of AG Gonzales minions Kyle Sampson and Monica Goodling, it's clear that concerned citizens might want to take a look at which non-confirmation political appointments were ripe for the picking by the dynamic duo after the confidential Gonzales memo of March, 2006. Where to begin? The Plum Book is probably the best resource I can think of.
So here's a sample of what information is available, as of November, 2004.
Executive Branch: Department of Justice
| Position at DoJ | Name | Type of Appt |
|---|---|---|
| Advisor to the Attorney General and White House Liaison | Susan Richmond | NA |
| Chief of Staff | David T. Ayres | NA |
| Deputy Chief of Staff | David M. Israelite | NA |
| Counselor to the Attorney General | D. Kyle Sampson | NA |
| Counselor to the Attorney General | John F. Wood | NA |
| Counselor to the Attorney General | Allyson N. Ho | NA |
[NA = Non-career appointment]
A great project for someone with lots of time on their hands might be taking this information, and updating it to the beginning of the scandal media coverage, something along these lines:
| Position at DoJ | Name | Type of Appt | Still in position? | Official as of 3/2007 | Date of Appt |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Advisor to the Attorney General and White House Liaison | Susan Richmond | NA | No | Monica Goodling | 4/2006 |
| Chief of Staff | David T. Ayres | NA | No | D. Kyle Sampson | 9/23/2005 |
| Deputy Chief of Staff | David M. Israelite | NA | No | Courtney Simmons Elwood | 10/05/2005 |
Just think what goodies mght turn up.
