Death Valley

For the first year of our travels, I kept a separate "travel blog", entitled, Trip To Wonderful. Recently, I began to update it and moved it over to Drupal. I don't know if I should continue, or just incorporate our travel writings, as Eric has done, into Wampum. Any thoughts?

In the meantime, here's what was on the menu today:

Artist's Palette, Death Valley National Park. We're camped at Furnace Creek for three nights, until the temps threaten to move above 90 degrees, and my MS-compromised system requires cooler temps. Sadly enough, as I would stay here a month if possible.

Gore campaign team assembles in secret, by Tim Shipman in Washington, Sunday Telegraph

VJ,

Thanks for the link. I still have to do the Draft Gore 2008 Political Action Committee first, and final FEC report. As popular as the idea of a Gore campaign is, the work we thought necessary was not popular enough for people to do, and ultimately, "Draft Gore 2008 PAC" was just me, which was absurd. Of course, it is also possible I'm the least talented political organizer of the cycle.

"and my MS-compromised system requires cooler temps." ... oh no! Is that serious? as in multiple sclerosis? I hope not! What a lovely spot nonetheless. Annie

Yeah, Annie - diagnosed in 2004/5. Relapsing-remitting, only a couple of episodes so far, but heat-intolerance is pretty much full-time at this point.

Oh well, life goes on...

You might find the Mesquite Springs campground a few degrees cooler — it's in the north end of the valley and a bit higher — and it's lovely up there. Much less traffic and hence easier to hear the coyotes singing.

Having run across three coyotes (relatively up close) yesterday, I'm not sure how much more of a personal experience I want ;-). But, yes, we will check out Mesquite Springs, as we're just not ready to leave yet. We did the Titus Canyon drive yesterday (right after a rainstorm) and want to do it again tomorrow, but spend the whole day and hike parts of it rather than just a drive through.

best! Annie

Sheet MB, That just sucks! I'm familiar with the Polar folks that Annie speaks of, and they have good stuff that holds up well. I'm always intrigued by Gore, (he was one of my fav. Senators), but as cagy as he's been about some of his intentions, I thought the light had gone out for him to run for elective office. We could all be proven wrong, but by then he'd really need a draft. Still, it was a good thought & fine effort. If we had an inkling that he was thinking about it, he'd be gathering the funding. As it is, I think he's angling to be our next UN ambassador. Thanks for the pics & the ones of the kids in the snow. That's the important stuff to hang on to for as long as possible. In possibly worse news this popped up too: [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/blake-fleetwood/high-functioning-autism-_b_46609.html]

And it's only Weds. right? Keep thinking cool thoughts. Cheers, 'VJ'
