Santa Anas come early this year...
It's 85 degrees in Oxnard at 11am this morning. The forecast high was 82. Hot winds are blowing in from the south east at 25-35mph, with higher gusts. It's almost surreal for this native Mainer.
The record for this date in Oxnard is 86 degrees, set in 1959. Guess we have most of the day left to see if a new one is set.
Update 11:42 am: New record - 87 degrees (and rising.)
Update 2: I meant to write about this the other day, but it's particularly fitting here:
Current L.A. Rain Season Driest On Record(CBS) LOS ANGELES As of now, the current rain season is the driest in Los Angeles since record-keeping began in 1877, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.
Downtown Los Angeles has received only 2.42 inches of rain since the season began July 1, the NWS said in a statement. That's a "whopping" 9.13 inches below the normal level, which is 11.55 inches, or 21 percent of what's
customary, it said. The previous driest July 1 through March 6 period, when 4.02 inches of rain was recorded in downtown Los Angeles, came during the 2001-02 rain season.
Comments
It was 89 the last time I was in Oxnard - and that was in December.
