Tancredo in Iowa
And just what is he doing there? Well, as I mentioned last week, the I Hate Brown People Party might just need a presidential candidate, though it looks like Tancredo might see if the GOP is in fact racist enough for his tastes:

Article Created:01/12/2007 10:07:23 AM MSTRep. Tom Tancredo is in Iowa this weekend assessing whether he should formally announce a plan to run for president.
"What comes out of this weekend will determine whether or not he sets up an exploratory committee," Tancredo spokesman Carlos Espinosa said.
Tancredo, R-Littleton, is in the state to publicize his book, "In Mortal Danger." But while he's there, he's talking to Republican leaders in the state.
But does Tancredo think he can win? Apparently not, at least as a Republican:
Tancredo often talks about running for president to publicize the immigration issue. If he decides to announce, Espinosa said, it's because he cares so much about the cause, and not because he thinks he can win election."Any bid that Tom would put up, it would be fighting for third place," Espinosa said. "Third place would be a huge victory for Tom Tancredo."
Apprently Iowa looks like a nice little prize, as only McCain and Romney are currently campaigning there. And as Espinosa puts it, "McCain is not a very popular guy in Iowa...that leaves a very big void..."
And why does Tancredo oppose McCain so vehemently? You got it, those blasted brown immigrants:
I kinda recall Tancredo saying something along the lines of, "if McCain's the nominee, I'll run." Looks like he's taking that threat seriously.
Comments
I hate to break it to him, but a lot of farmers and processor rely on those brown immigrants. The Swift raids didn't go over too big here in the Midwest.
Tancredo doesn't stand a chance.
In 1870, the state of Iowa published -- by order of the Iowa Board of Immigration -- a treatise on the resources of Iowa. That treatise was entitled: IOWA: The Home for Immigrants - and its stated purpose was to "induce thousands to find homes within the borders of Iowa, to share the advantages and blessings which await all who will come and partake of them."
