The Kosavo War revisited

I've been a little busy with work and draftgore2008.org's first honest-to-logfile distributed denial of service attack (which was user visible in the form of drupal error returns "too many sql connections" to koufax.wabanaki.net users for 10 or 15 minutes this evening (PST). The attack was conducted by 100+ nodes in Germany and Asia, and disclosed the httpd <==> sql server connection limit to the node-set conducting the attack, and I suppose it disclosed the existance of the sql host to the human attacker.

This is stuff I actually wrote into the defense part of the Draft Gore 2008 PAC technology plan six months ago, and really dates back to attacks on Alas, A Blog, which is when I started doing systemic defense work. The size of drone armies now observed is wicked huge, many, many K-nodes of the obvious throw-aways -- the infinite universe of brain-dead Windoz-on-dsl-or-cable, and co-opted colo cages where php injection vulnerabilities are exploited. And all to push product via SEO rankings, or knock down targets for pay or passion. EBADGOOGLE and EBADYAHOO! are the error codes.

Anyway, I was so busy today with ill-mannered weekenders who think our provisioning Jalama Beach for email and the occasional VoIP call via our VSAT by our long-term neighbors is their queue to crank up the downloads, and real work, and Jonah minding, that I missed the possibility floated by Steven Clemons at The Washington Note that a secret Executive Order was issued in the past 72 hours initiating a state of war with Iran or Syria or both Iran and Syria.

Steve's a smart guy. A lot of us are concerned. If Joe Biden really wants to be President, he better be smart enough, and useful enough, to put a bill effecting the overturn such an executive order, sometime in the interval between when he suspects it exists, and IRNA announces that silkworms are potting all and sundry in the Straits of Hormuz. If he can't do that, he can pimp for MBNA, like Bob Dole pimps for the Viagra spammers. See EBAD..., above.

Comments

EBW: I think the Washington Note llink has an extra space char after the last slash.

Thanks.

Must be the day for it. I sent mail to the copyedit address at Le Monde, they'd a ")" inside of an a-anchor'd url for a 2007 presidential candidate's web site.
