New Koufax Poll
In comments over at the new Koufax site, Liza Sabater brings up the valid question of whether a "blogger of color" category is appropriate:
I speak for a lot of people who feel rather uncomfortable with this category. Are people being rewarded for the color of their skin alone? What about if you are a white Cuban ... you don't count?
(My response to the "white Cuban" question is, of course they count, in every category except one specifically for non-whites.)
With all the discussions we've have in the BoC/PoC blogosphere this year, I felt the suggestion for this new category might have merit. However, I'm open to being convinced by other PoCs that this is not a good idea. So, if you're a PoC and want to have a say, take the poll.

VastLeft @ Corente offers you a tee that fails to be bipartisan and alarms the Villagers ...
USA Webhost and Wampum offer you domain transfer or registration, content management choices as well as the blog hosting (WP & MT), merchant account and call center service. We've run half a dozen political campaigns, from gubernatorial and statehouse races to DNC and DCCC targeted races. These are the best tools.

Great. Another chance for people to tell me I'm not "black" enough.
I think the category is a good idea, even if it does mean getting slapped in the face again. I guess I'm used to the abuse and insults. Is that a good sign or a bad one?

It's not about being slapped, it's about what exactly are we giving the award for. For example, is it a prize for the best coverage of ethnic/racial issues or is it a prize for the best writers with melanin-enhanced skin (aka colored).
The blogosphere already has the Black Blog Awards and those are very specific (racially and ethnically) yet encompass a myriad of writing categories.
Don't get me wrong, am all for it. That the new suggested category "Best Human Equality Blog" is awesome. That title is fantastic and I think it works in creating an umbrella term for "issues" centered blogs.
Yet, I honestly think that indigenous, women, race, ethnic, religious, lgbt, law, health ---all these categories should have their own award. They are all expert and issues oriented blogs.

Sorry, with all the cold medicine, my jokes are apparently even more obscure than usual.
I was trying to be funny. Definitely out of the running for the humor blog.
