This morning's visitors
Tue Dec 19 13:38:27 EST 2006
Maria Tapas, Carolyn Bucklew, and officers D. Thomas and F. Vasquez walk in and ask if today I'll consent to Ms. Tapas' interviewing Gracie, Sam, Jonah and Kezzie. I ask the uniformed officers for identification and the response given by each is "you're looking at them". With that bit of formality over, I consent.

They leave. Our children are fed, educated, in good health, and there have been no repeats of elopement. At the end they have the decency to ask what should have been the first question -- is there anything we can do for you? Since it is an afterthought, I mention the line-of-sight child (and Alzeheimer's adult) finders, confirm and copy my notes of Ms. Talpas' findings -- listed above. No abuse.
Our neighbor was exceptionally kind. I told him we'd police and social workers and asked him to come and sit down and observe, which he did without question or complaint. His presence calmed my heart.
