Iraq Reviews
Juan Cole linked to Sarah Shields' piece Staticide, Not Civil War in Iraq. It is a short piece and I recommend it.
Since the "Iraq Army" infiltrated by the Iraqi militias that formed in exile in Iran (SCIRI and Dawa alignments), is acceptable as "embeds" in US forces, and the Iraqi militias that formed in Iraq post-conquest, are not, characterizing the conflict involving these militias, and the former Iraq Army officers and enlisted again under arms, and the Kurdish parties militias, as operational allies of, and operation opposition forces against, US forces in Iraq as an internal affair, a "civil war", is misleading.
Out now or stay the civil course?
