Missing the Target #3

h_9_ill_840665_aids_work.jpgIts World Aids Day, and six out of ten people with HIV live too poorly, and die too quickly, in sub-Saharan Africa. Further, of the three million people too ill to work, three out of four live, too poorly, and die too quickly, in sub-Saharan Africa. South Africa (3.7 million), Nigeria (1.8 million), Mozambique (1.4 million), Tanzania (1.2 million), Zimbabwe (1.1 million).

Rick Warren wants to replace health clinics in sub-Saharan Africa with churches. I was on that con-call. I wrote about it, Wrong number. He also wants to replace recreational sex in sub-Saharan Africa with monogomous sex sanctioned by churches. Condoms aren't in scope.

What Senator Barak Obama is doing today is non-serious. He misses the target. What he could be doing is reading 59 pages of .pdf on the subject and talking about the issues. He could be reading the International Treatment Preparedness Coalition (ITPC)'s MISSING THE TARGET #3. That would be non-non-serious.

Via AllAfrica.Com here are a few parts of the target that will never, ever, be inside any house of worship an Orange County Commuter Church:

  1. Namibia: Orphans Bear the Brunt of WFP Cash Shortfall
  2. Africa: HIV/AIDS Epidemic Costs More Than 1 Million Jobs a Year - ILO [press release]
  3. South Africa: Anti-TB Drug 'Could Reduce HIV/Aids Deaths'
  4. Africa: World Aids Day 2006 - Ideology Trumps Action As Epidemic Worsens - HRW [press release]
