Riverbend writes "Summer of Goodbyes..."

Her piece is here.

How many Iraqis will the Occupying Powers, the US, the UK, and the rest of the States party to the current bellgerency, offer resettlement, wth dual-citizenship? Having created a situaton of communal and confessonal civil war, and not having yet abandoned the Christian Theory of Just War, and humanitarian obligations, how many Iraqis?

This isn't a hypothetical question for the gangsters occupying Washington City, whom we hope to overthrow at the ballot box in November 2008, and start prosecuting in January 2009, or worse alternatives should the ballot box continue to be closed to regime change, but for the rest of us. One million Iraqis with the option to return to Iraq when conditions improve, or remain permanently in the US? Two million? Ten million? How many in Europe, or Syria or Jordan or Lebanon?

The British conquest, occupation, and withdrawal from an undivided India was the root cause for the communal and confessonal civil war that created the Muslim and Hindi States of Pakistan and India, at a cost of hundreds of thousands, if not a million lives, and nearly 15 million resettlements.

The DNC just went through a series of contortions over which few hundred thousands from which few millions of US residents should pick the Party's nominee for President. There are more important issues.
