Bravo Mainiacs and Mainers!
CQ reports we got 25% of the primary vote, which is 10% more than Dennis Kucinich got in caucus presidential preference in '04, or the sum of the Kucinich and Edwards caucus preferences, in the larger primary participant pool.
CQ also reports us as having messaged on "energy policy; bringing the Maine National Guard members home from the war in Iraq; and the decentralization of government".
These are issues with zero mindshare in the main stream media, and they are doing about the same in the Progressive and Democratic blogs, where everything is Rove and Censure and Busby and Lamont and ... the '06 kabuki theatre of the old, and the new, opinion shapers. However, one in four primary voting Maine Dems don't seem to need either the main stream (local) media or the big (away) blogs to do their critical thinking for them.
Later in the week I'll have the numbers-by-precinct. The Republican side is still too close to call. Two independents qualified for the ballot, one qualified also for public funding, and there is also a Green, also qualified for public funding.
