How good is the news from Baghdad?
At al-Hesbah there is a confirmation that Abou Moussab al-Zarqaoui has been killed. The confirmation was signed by Abou Abdel Rahmane al-Iraqui, "adjoint of the Emir", on behalf of the "office of information of the Consultative Councile of the Mojahidines" , and refers to Zarqaoui as "our cheik" and "the combattant".
The raid that killed Zarqaoui and seven others was a second effort by the operational group, described as Iraqi-American by the Iraqi puppet in charge of press, as a joint US Intel - US Special Forces Jordanian Intel op by the Jordainian puppet in charge of press, and (absurdly) as an air raid by the American puppet in charge of press.
Riverbend writes that she misses the daily thumps of Baghdad car bombings, that killed and maimed indiscriminantly, which has been replaced by a daily parade of corpses at morgues and hospitals, hands bound, torture wounded (electric drills to the skull being common), and shot. Scores each day. Some days hitting the hundred mark. Read Bad Day....
Measured by effect, Abou Moussab al-Zarqaoui, and Paul Bremmer, two foreign terrorists, the former an agent for targeted violence in the absence of civil police power, the later as an agent for the abolition of civil police power, have achived more than a series of murders, and a series of incapacites to apprehend murderers.
Meanwhile, the attempt to assassinate, with all the trimings of "law", the (under International Law) current head of State in the custody of the Occupational Authority, continues. As if a hanging could make the illegal legal, and replace pervasive competing quasi-civil violences with pervasive unitary civil peace.
