Winterkill goes to Ottowa
Ken Munson and Dan Hatchen were convicted of unlawful confinement. The offense the two Saskatoon police officers convicted of was transporting Darrell Night near a power station the outskirts of Saskatoon and abandoning him. Mr. Night was drunk, native, and the temperature was -25°. Mr. Night survived the winterkill. He filed a formal complaint after he heard that two other Native men, Rodney Naistus and Lawrence Wegner, had been found frozen to death in the same area where he was dropped off.
Maurice Vellacott, MP from Saskatoon -- Wanuskewin, defended Ken Munson and Dan Hatchen in the attempted winterkill of Darrell Night. Zealously.
He's Prime Minister Stephen Harper's choice to chair of the parlimentary aboriginal affairs committee.
CathiefromCanada has a link to a piece in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix Hard to imagine worse choice than Vellacott.
