CREA takes down its website...
The last cached version of the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy, or CREA, was March 28, 2006. I've been using the Way Back Machine for earlier website versions for my recent research, and tried to connect to the current website this morning for the first time in about a week.
With Gale Norton's sudden departure from Interior, I have an ominous feeling CREA's web disappearance is not arbitrary.
I predict indictments of Italia Federici and/or Steven Griles very soon.
Update: The host iphqsw0036atl2.public.registeredsite.com, which is what the (probably) vhosted crea-online.org PTR points to, is up. The registration for crea-online.org doesn't expire until 14/01/2007. The authoritative nameservers {a,b,c}.ns.interland.net aren't answering for crea-online.org, so as of now crea-online.org exists only in caching nameservers at ISPs near you ... for another couple of days or hours. The machines are in the Interland Atlanta colo, and they're VLAN'd down-stream from Savvis @ Atlanta.
In short, there's no earthy technical or i forgot my domain name renewal or my sodding network is down reason why CREA is off-line. The node is returning ICMP echo requests. Every network infrastructure element and corporation in the path from the cloud to the node is humming a happy tune. Someone pushed a policy button and turned of nameservice, and packet filtering for tcp and udp (but not icmp).
I've written Jared Carpenter, who's the crea-online.org registrant and admin PoC, and asked if he needs technical assistance.

Don't ya love it! I watched most of Italia's testimony and waited patiently for the cool, calm, collected, yet red-faced Senator McCain to jump over the table and bitch-slap Ms. Federici. It didn't happen. I'm not as interested in what happens to her and Mr. Griles as much as I am in Ms. Norton. She should live out her remaining days in a federal prison for the willful negligence she participated in over the Indian Lands oil revenue. I still haven't forgotten about the documents related to this that were found in a dumpster at the National Archives, "mysteriously placed there" by someone.
