Is it kosher to vote for myself? I didn't get a chance to do it in the semi-finals, because a "friend" commandeered my computer.
Anyway, it's been a real honor to make it this far, and while I wish the best of luck to the other finalists, I guess I also hope that they all lose. Just thought I'd be honest.
Because Goldy took down David Irons (an alleged mom-beating, resume lying-on, incompetent local GOoPer) and helped Ron Sims (a legend in WA) gain a third term in King county, making the Seattle area safe for democracy.
Also, the "Michael Brown, Arabian Horse Association exec" story was AMAZING.
Goldy has had a big impact on Washington State Politics over the last two years and he reports great stories every day that are informational and interesting.
Goldy and HorsesAss.org deserves this award. Thank you!

Horses Ass, by far the leader in Pacific Northwest Politics and at times striving for higher ground (Brownie's scoop). Goldy has his work cut out for him with all of our 'pet trolls', but he stays the course and keeps things moving.
Well, while these other sites are quality and do great work, we've got to realize that Mark Nickolas created this site less than a year ago in a state as red as Kentucky, led by the next Senate Majority/Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and run by a corrupt Republican governor which he fights every step of the way. Our state Democratic Party is as ineffective as it is corrupt and we have one of the most uninspiring press corps you can imagine.
This site is important not just because it's well designed and informative and a great gathering place for political insiders and junkies, but because it is our only voice. It's the only entity that fights the Republican partisan power plays as well as own party's corruption and the inept media when they deserve it. Bluegrass Report is closely read by the insiders and the elected officials as well as the newsrooms. It's not just good. It's effective.
The blogs from Oregon, Massachusetts and New Jersey are terrific and very well done but remember that those states have strong Democratic Party structures, and most of those states have Democratic governors and senators as well as a strong majority of its congressman. Kentucky has Congressman Ben Chandler and that's it.
As I said, this one's easy: BluegrassReport.org for Best State or Local Blog.
bluegrassreport is making a huge impact here in kentucky. everything the other comments say here are 100% true. you all have no idea what mark has been able to do. he was on statewide TV last night talking about one of the hottest issues here in KY and you don't see our state party out there doing a damn thing! mark is our only voice and he deserves this award!
It is a great combination of an irreverent blog and real hard-core investigative journalism. Goldy does more than just comment on the news, he actually gets out there and does the work that the 'journalists' don't. In an age where reporters simply throw out opposing talking points, Goldy's work has made a difference and deserves the award.
Bluegrassreport.org is my vote due to the incredible awakening of awareness and discussion Mark Nickolas has generated for open, honest, transparent government in a state that's been too long behind closed doors. Thanks.
BluegrassReport.org - a blue site in a mostly Red State. Fortunately, I live in the bluest part of it, or at least the most liberal part of it. I agree with the other "Jeff" above on some, but not all, of what he wrote. And the differences I have have made for some interesting discussions on the blog. But "Jeff" above indicates that Albert B. Chandler, III is all we have, despite the fact that Mark's recent straw poll on the 2007 governor's race gave a many more candidates to consider besides our lone Democratic member in Washington.
