Again, I HATE only having one vote here. but I found more links to Think Progress in the course of _my_ reading than to Orcinus so TP gets the nod.

double_curve.gif

Media Matters -- for doing the dirty work of listening to all those cretins

double_curve.gif

ThinkProgress has to be my choice here, although I find AmericaBlog's rants to be very cathartic! ThinkProgress just gives such thorough coverage and linkages that it could be (if I weren't addicted to blogs) "one stop shopping".

Think Progress

Think Progress is daily essential reading. From their innovative site architecture to their sense of humor and wit (see today's "Giving lap dods a bad name" post, they are the scoop before there is a scoop. They guide my daily writing and thinking. Having visited their offices, and knowing how comprehensive they are, I expected to see some exhausted, baggy-eyed people. But at CAP, they are fresh-faced and optimistic, and the breaks that this blog provides must be driving that positive attitude.

Tough, tough category; adore Wolcott, Orcinus does God's
work, Media Matters is irreplacable, Americablog does real journalism no one else is doing...

My choice: Talking Points Memo, because the of the incredible
work Josh did on the bankruptcy bill, Social Security,
and keeping track of Republican perfidy.

double_curve.gif

Wolcott

double_curve.gif

Talking Points Memo

double_curve.gif

Talking Points Memo. He provides the best coverage of politics ala Washington, and, when he gets his teeth into an issue (Valerie Plame, Abramoff, Duke Cunningham, Delay, etc.) he really changes the dynamic of the situation and has an impact upon the mainstream media coverage.

Orcinus

Blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, shaken up journalism, and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others. I vote for Sirotablog as best blog because of the topics he covers and the high quality of his comments/information.

I so very much wish this high quality level of coverage was inherent in traditional media. Perhaps I would watch more television if "news" programs were about facts and not about "reaching" a certain group of viewers.

David Sirota's blog (and organization) is the best, most informative I have seen. He gives us perspective on the issue and then always links us to the evidence and sources. Great blog.
