Firedoglake - for consistently significant postings, great graphics but more for the nurturance of a genuine community and for generating action on the part of that community.
The Carpetbagger Report. Indispensible political updates, all day nearly every day that are informative and most importantly of all do not waste your valuable reading time being self-indulgent!
Pharyngula - one of the few non group-blogs (ala Daily Kos) that I bother to read. Plus, me and "PZ Meyers" go way back. (He'll kill me if he sees this.)
If I could I'd split my vote between Eshaton, Firedoglake, and
Hullabaloo. But since I can'tI'll go with the first blog I check every time I fire up firefow: Eschaton. Consistent excellence.
This is a *really* tough one between firedog and carpetbagger. But I'm going with CarpetBagger Report -- it's a clean layout, the entries are never too long but they're always spot on and very, very readable prose.
