Swiftboat Veterans for Single Malt Scotch

Because we get trackbacks and use Technorati, I see a number of posts about the Koufax Awards written by others. A large number of them are just plain funny. For instance, I thought it was pretty funny when The General launched a very virile broadside against me for following the rules:

"Rules" Dwight? We don't need no stinking rules.

Our Leader didn't get where he is today by following rules. If he worried about such things, he wouldn't be President; we wouldn't be fighting the Iraq Phase of the Eternal War to Resubjugate Brown People; we wouldn't be applying pain that is slightly less than equivalent to that experienced during organ failure to kidnapped goat herders; the Counter Intelligence Field Activity wouldn't be reading my blog; John Bolton wouldn't be listening in on Bill Richardson's phone calls; and Jose Padilla wouldn't have been jailed for two years before being charged.

Breaking rules made America what it is today. Why does Dwight hate America?

I also thought that Michael's take on my instructions was pretty funny:

Dwight also says "be nice, and have fun," which I consider an infringement of my New First Amendment rights.
(Michael has also collected his Jamie posts at the link. Absolutely must reading. Finally, please read his post on Dana Reeve and the disability community's conflicted reaction to the Nuveen ad during the Super Bowl).

My favorite comment about the Sandy's was found via the Bluegrass Report. That fine blog has been nominated in the Best State and Local category. A commenter at another nominee in the same category, Fla Politics noted that Bluegrass Report has received a number of early votes. Akula, tongue firmly in cheek, commented:

When to go negative?

It looks like the KY blogs are out to an early lead. Going negative early will get FP press and begin to define the opposition.

Just what kind of "Bluegrass" are they smokin' over BluegrassReport.org? And there's got to be alot of dirt on a state whose postal code is KY.

I say we take a page out of the Rove playbook and attack their strengths: bourbon and horses.

Of course our Florida horses are clearly superior, having to endure our endless sunshine and run on sand.

But since Kentucky has the bourbon, and we have no equivalent native spirit, we should make it the centerpiece of our negative campaign.

Swiftboat Veterans for Single Malt Scotch.

That'll show those inbred mountain people.

A leading early contender for a 2006 Koufax, IMHO.
