2005 Koufax Open Thread
Well, the laptop is finally in the shop and will hopefully be ready Friday. Thanks to everyone who has generously contributed to its repair.
Only four categories left to compile. I've got three, Dwight has one, and hopefully they'll be done within the next 24 - 48 hours, and first round voting will begin. In the meantime, please use this thread for discussion, comments, omissions, etc., regarding the Sandies.

Funny to see my blog in the "Single Issue" category as it is hard to find a more eclectic blog in the Universe. I wonder who nominated it in this category...
(It was more than one person, so I figured I'd better do it ;D - MBW)

It's an honor just to be nominated. I don't know why I was so honored, but that's cool with me.

I think a lot of people come to read the Lakoff/femiphobia stuff and filter out everything else. Fine with me. Can't beat most of the blogs on there in this category anyway, but it is an honor to be nominated.

hey! almost every other blog in this category stole my strategy (ie, take a single person blog who never won any other koufax, invite a bunch of readers who comment on the blog to help co-blog, and sit back and watch the noms for "best group blog" roll in).
damn!

Hey, it was a pleasant surprise to see our blog nominated. Thanks a lot for your efforts!

Like to nominate WiredOpinion.com for deserving wider recognition. It's a kid at Georgetown who has been posting at CampusProgress as well as on his own site. It's good stuff.

I thought I nominated Jonathan Schwarz's A Tiny Revolution for most humorous blog, but I guess I didn't, or it got truncated. Is it too late now?

It's funny, getting a nomination when you have a tiny blog like mine in any category is, in practical terms, achieving Wider Recognition. My fellow writing nominees have been awesome and I've gotten a whole bunch of new links and readers. It really puts the honor in "it's an honor just to be nominated." Thanks, Koufaxes! My very modest traffic has tripled in the last few days.

Wow! Thanks so much fo the nomination. So what can I do is already getting more hits just from this listing! It's a joy and an inpiration to write; I hope it motivates and informs readers as well. Thanks again!

You know, I love Joe Conason, but in the pro/sponsored category, you've linked to his weekly newspaper column, which is hardly what most of us think of as "blogging". I'm not sure whether his Salon column is a blog or just a column anymore, but it's certainly presented like a column. (If it's a blog, it should have a regular link, which it doesn't appear to have.)
[i agree. if no one has provided a useful link by this time tomorrow i'll delete it. no link, no ... er ... mink. ebw]

if i don't win this year, i'm blogging strictly about kangaroos next year to get nominated in best single issue blog.

Can someone remove my name from consideration as Best Commenter? I'd rather see one of the MLWers who doesn't actually RUN the dang blog in contention...
MSOC
Yes. Done.
