The Loom.

I have to go with the Daou Report for doing us all a great service while maintaining his own top-notch blog.

double_curve.gif

I like Talking Points Memo - expanding the role of blogs since I don't know when.

double_curve.gif

Bloggermann

double_curve.gif

I'm required by law to vote for Dent.

double_curve.gif

Bloggerman, of course - no contest!

I need to vote for Sirotablog. These kind are the progressives are the best.

double_curve.gif

I gotta go with Sirotablog as well. He is a marvelous writer and works hard to stay current almost by the hour.

double_curve.gif

Talking Points Memo (again, another difficult decision)

Damned tough choice here for me between Media Matters and AmericaBlog. Upon reflection, I have to go with the site that's accomplished the most. And thus I cast my vote for:

AmericaBlog

double_curve.gif

Raw Story

double_curve.gif

Orcinus

double_curve.gif

Bloggermann

double_curve.gif

Altercation gets my vote.

Americablog and James Wolcott are sentimental favorites, but Eric more reliably delivers the goods.

Very close here.

Wolcott by virtue of great writing and frequency.

If Olbermann posted more often, Bloggermann would be unbeatable.

double_curve.gif

Talking Points Memo

double_curve.gif

wolcott, for spectacular writing, wonderful snark and always a quirky take on the mainstream

double_curve.gif

Political Animal/Washington Monthly, with Mother Jones Blog and Matt Yglesias close behind

double_curve.gif

I could say Attytood, for having the stupidest trolls; or I could say Sirota for being on target and feet to the firemost; and certainly Wolcott inflicts the most delicious sort of pain; but I guess I have to vote for Josh Marshall for his relentless pursuit of the Social Security Bamboozalooza, Almost a life sentence Randy Cunningham, Abramoff, and his recognition of the fact that the GOP and all of their corruption and scandals are the means to fund their slush fund, the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Slush Fund.

That is where all that money has gone, to fund the gop operatives like sensenbrenner and frist and delay and blunt and boehner and every little punk ass media toady like matalin.

So thanks Josh, and please don't stop.

Josh should get 'should be in charge of this outfit'.

Talking Points Memo, hands down. Marshall is a pioneer of the form.

I have to go with Talking Points Memo. I think that TPM should be retired from this category. It is kind of like the 1980's US basketball team at the Olympics. I'd be a lot more interested in figuring out who is #2. Some pretty good blogs, all overshadowed by Josh.

Really tough choice...Josh's work on Social Security was invaluable, but I'm not as interested in the recent focus on scandals. The Washington Note provides some great insights, and the recent Bolton Watch feature is much-needed. I also enjoy The Intersection's focus on climate change and the government attacks on science, and regularly read War and Piece for her great insight. But in the end, I think Media Matters is providing the best and most necessary service - documenting the biases of the so-called liberal media. So, my vote goes to Media Matters - keep up the great work!

Cursor.org - best succinct portal into the major stories of the day - batting average far far above that of NYT and WaPo...

but also --- where do we vote for Empire Notes ? Has it been overlooked??!!!

Talking Points Memo, without a doubt. He (and now his staff) just gets better and better. Muckraker is a great addition.

Out of this list, I say TPM. Yet why no consideration for David Corn? His writing generally, and particularly on the Valerie Plame issue, has been excellent.

Matthew Yglesias

double_curve.gif

David Sirota

double_curve.gif

double_curve.gif

Talking Points Memo. Josh does amazing work, actual reporting, and he's expanding his reach every day. He's an invaluable resource.

I'd like to show Raw Story some recognition as well. It's a great aggregator, and the one place I'd go if I only had five minutes on the 'net.

double_curve.gif

Orcinus. Hands down.

Wolcott.

Cursor is a very good aggregator.

double_curve.gif

Media Matters

double_curve.gif

Orcinus!

double_curve.gif

I vote for Raw Story, though in my Favorites list, I put them under, "News" rather than "Blogs." But among this most distinguished list, it's The Raw Story I check out first, so I'm bound by honesty to vote for them.

If we were using a weighted voting system, I'd put Media Matters in for second, and Talking Points Memo as third.

I vote for David Sirota in Sirotablog. He is the most spot-on, hard-hitting, genuine progressive out there! And, he isn't afraid to offend the Democratic establishment when they aren't working for the people? I recommend signing up for his email newsletter.
