New Koufax Nominations thread.
Guess it's time to close the old thread and open a new one. Things are starting to slow down, so I imagine this will be the last one. To see the categories, go here, though return to vote in comments below.
Since we haven't been as successful as I'd hoped with our fundraising for bandwidth and a replacement for Eric's dead computer, I'm suggesting to Dwight and Eric that we hold off on the first round of voting until the end of Januray. I don't anticipate being able to replace his laptop until then out of our own funds, and since he found out he's unable to access Wampum's guts from work, we really need him to be up and running to guarantee the integrity of the voting process in light of last year's multiple voting behavior.

This is totally shameless self-promotion, but it is on behalf of my compadres, not me alone. So it does not count as narcissism points. I am proud of my community!
Best Blog Community: The Democracy Cell Project (http://www.democracycellproject.net)
Best Writing: Casey Morris of The Democracy Cell Project
Most Humorous: Ask Polly Sigh (The Democracy Cell Project) http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/archives/ask_polly_sigh/index.html
Single Issue: The Tao of Politics, Matthew Carnicelli (The Democracy Cell Project)http://www.democracycellproject.net/blog/archives/the_tao_of_politics/index.html
Justification: The DCP is made up of veterans of the John Kerry Blog. Most of the Crew were moderators on that Blog, and as such, they managed the discussions, kept the threads clear of vitriol, and answered the hard questions about John Kerry and John Edwards. They noticed the lies and misinformation that the mainstream media passed along, and how much of the blogosphere picked up on msm negative memes and repeated those memes as truth.
After the election was over, the community decided to keep fighting for the truth, and we wanted to keep the voices that had begun to speak truth to power growing and evolving. There are about 15 people who write thread headers, and about 50-60 regular posters on the threads.
The DCP is not partisan or candidate-driven any more. What has emerged is a mature group of witty, savvy, and informed writers. And rather than staying inside a bubble, the DCP encourages and rewards those who take truth to the streets, in actions.
Check it out!
Be the Media. Take it to the people.

I second Democracy Cell Project's nomination as the best blog community.
It is through DCP that I have found ideas for keeping myself active, even though I find myself in a very conservative community in real life. DCP has brought me in touch with many wonderful activists from around the nation and the world, and was the impetus for me joining the pro-peace activities of September 24th.

Democracy cell project is my choice as well. I have visited the sites mentioned above, but none
is able to capture the activist aura that the DCP provides. The Five Minutes a Day suggestions
on the home page are simple suggestions for action that anybody can do. The blog postings are
educational, well written and thoroughly documented. Visitors are treated with respect when they present valid points for discussion. The forum is loaded with information that can be applied by anybody who
wants to empower themselves and their community. To me the Democracy Cell Project embodies
what its name implies, a democratic forum for intelligent conversation and information.
If you haven't visited the Democracy Cell Project, give it a try. http://www.democracycellproject.net

Now, granted, I write for it. But in my defense, I wouldn't nominate my solo blog for anything. Tapped, however, strikes me as something of an underrated, if well-respected, gem in the blogosphere. My middling work aside, Matt Yglesias, Sam Rosenfeld, Mark Goldberg, Garance Franke Ruta, and Greg Sargent compose quite a dream team of writers with expertise and ability on an almost shockingly large number of topics. So there it is. It's terrific wonkery on a broader range of subjects than most solitary efforts can manage.

I am blown away by the depth, insight and painstaking detail of BRADBLOG! This is the most thorough and conscientious investigative journalism in media today -- and I mean all media, both mainstream and alternative. If you ever want to know what is truly going on beneath the covers, you have to check out Brad Blog -- and I'm not even sleeping with Brad! In fact, we met by sheer coincidence, via our mutual interest in debunking Ann Coulter's hate-speak. Brad convinced me to do an article on the Alachua Republican Party and Ann Coulter.
