Adios al neoliberalismo, Hola nacionalización de hidrocarburos
The election results will be in late today or tomorrow. The latest polling data has Evo Morales Ayma and Alvaro Garcia Linera of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) with 34.2% of the projected vote, Jorge Quiroga Ramírez of the Poder Democrático y Social (PODEMOS) at 29.2%, and Felipe Quispe Huanca of the Movimiento Indígena Pachacutec (MIP) with "significant regional returns". The polling data has Samuel Doria's Unidad Nacional (UN) with 8,9% of the projected vote, and Michiaki Nagatani's Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR) at 4,2%.
Today's vote should produce a wide majority for the propositions that neo-liberalism has no place in a majority Indiginous republic, and that natural gas and petroleum is best managed as a public, rather than a private, natural resource. That's MAS + MIP, the socialist and indigenist parties, which share those values.
