Adios al neoliberalismo, Hola nacionalización de hidrocarburos

evo-+-alvaro.jpgThe election results will be in late today or tomorrow. The latest polling data has Evo Morales Ayma and Alvaro Garcia Linera of the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS) with 34.2% of the projected vote, Jorge Quiroga Ramírez of the Poder Democrático y Social (PODEMOS) at 29.2%, and Felipe Quispe Huanca of the Movimiento Indígena Pachacutec (MIP) with "significant regional returns". The polling data has Samuel Doria's Unidad Nacional (UN) with 8,9% of the projected vote, and Michiaki Nagatani's Movimiento Nacionalista Revolucionario (MNR) at 4,2%.

Today's vote should produce a wide majority for the propositions that neo-liberalism has no place in a majority Indiginous republic, and that natural gas and petroleum is best managed as a public, rather than a private, natural resource. That's MAS + MIP, the socialist and indigenist parties, which share those values.
