New Koufax Nominations post.
I'm closing the comment section for the previous one, as it's becoming cumbersome. Read the original post for categories, then post nominations here.
Note: Some people are concerned that their comments are not showing up. That's just a new feature of the upgraded MT - in order to prevent comment spam, it holds for moderation which contain more than three URLs. Don't worry, we approve them within a few hours.
This thread is now closed, to add nominations go to this thread.

Two more great entries for...
Best Series:
* Newsie's Reviewsies: Media
* Newsie's Reviewsies: Elections
They can also found at her blog, Penndit; I provided the MLW links because they're all in one section (per link) there.
Unbelievable amount of time, effort and knowledge put into this longstanding series. I've come to depend on it.

There should be a Best Blog Design category.
Posted by: Night Bird | December 16, 2005 04:52 PM
Self promotion time.
I run two "sister sites" that examine statistical data differences between conservatives and liberals. The sites are:
http://www.conservative-truths.com/
http://www.liberal-truths.com/
Both of these blogs launched on January 3, 2005.
After reading the description of the categories I think these are the most likely categories for my blogs:
Best New Blog
Most Deserving of Wider Recognition
I would also like to be considered for these two, but I'm not sure if my sites exactly conform to the rules for them:
Best Single Issue
Best Series
Thank you.

Mary Scott O'Connor beat me to suggesting Political Animals for an award. I've been following Spike's work for some time on the Booman Tribune and have gone back to his site to check out the archives. Even without a cartoon category, I think Political Animals could be nominated in several places.
Daily Kos has kind of become the site a lot of people love to hate, but it's still my first stop in the morning to check out what's going on.
Juan Cole provides a great service that the MSM either can't or won't: he tells us what's going on in the Middle East.
I also spend a lot of time lurking at Booman Tribunebecause it's such a welcoming place.

Bill O'Reilly Makes Baby Herodotus Cry by Raybin
Best Series
Armando's SCOTUS work at Daily Kos
RubDMC's Iraq War Grief Daily Witness posted lots of places including My Left Wing
Since in my own mind there's no doubt that the best series is one of those two, I'll continue to be stupefyingly arrogant and nominate my own Civil War series: We Cannot Believe Americans Can Do These Things, Death in September, American Angel, Jackasses to the Rescue, Scythe of the Reaper and Cold harbor and the Birth of Modern Warfare.
Best Post
Well in my mind there's just too damn many jaw dropping, thought provoking, staggeringly well written posts in the lefty blogosphere to pick but a few...so, just to be a shit, I'll round out the arrogance trifecta by nominating....ME, BABY~!
Scythe of the Reaper by Raybin
Death in September by Raybin
Ahhhhhh....self-aggrandizement. God bless it. I'd feel bad if it didn't feel so good.

May I suggest a special award for Cursor? Call it Best Guide to Everything Else or Most Indispensable or even a Lifetime Achievement Award. But cursor.org is the go-to page for everything else on the Web.
And how about a Best Non-Political Series nod to bobharris.com for his whimsical Friday Pudublogging? A welcome respite from the insanity of the week's hard news!

I'm still pondering the "Best Post" category. It's tough, this year.
I feel compelled to point out that by excluding a "Best Ethnic Blog" category, a number of highly talented writers who write about political issues from the perspective of their ethnic/racial communities get drowned out by the more mainstream blogs. Blogs written by those who are not trying to hide the nuanced perspectives on mainstream politics that may arise because of their racial or ethnic backgrounds, like Prometheus6, Black Feminism, Latino Pundit or even my own baby blog Political Sapphire play an important role in developing effective political strategy, so please reconsider the omission for next year. Thanks!

Three series at Left I on the News to nominate for Best Series:
The "exit strategy" that isn't - analyzing how all the major "successes" of the U.S. military against insurgents in Iraq are achieved with airpower and tanks which are never going to be left in the hands of Iraqis
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
Resign. Now. - Calling on Bush, Cheney, and the entire gang to resign.
1 2 3 4 5 6
The "Disappeared" - a multiyear series dedicated to remembering Iraqis like Amer al-Saadi who have been jailed, typically in solitary confinement, for nearly three years, after surrendering voluntarily to the Americans, and not yet charged with any crimes, but against whom crimes (violations of the Geneva Convention) are being committed on a daily basis.

Self-nominations for Best Post, all from Left I on the News. Yes, there are a lot. I do a lot of original writing, and most of it is not duplicated on any other blog:
A tale of two generals
The "opposition" party: transcript (and analysis) accomplished!
The "exit strategy" in Iraq is a sham
Resign. Now.
Intelligent design: an assault on religion
What is a life worth? And to whom?
Posada Carriles - why he matters
Birds and politics - the Tale of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker
John McCain - war criminal
The war didn't end yesterday
Did the administration believe in Iraqi WMD?
Terrorist sneaks across U.S. border
"Expert" analysis
Assessing the antiwar movement
Terrorism...and other problems
The function of blogs
WMD - The lies continue
Am I the only one who thinks members of the Iraqi military and resistance fighters are human beings?
