De Standaard reports the day's meeting schedule, first with Albert and Paola, then Guy Verhofstadt (Premier), then Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, SG of NATO, then speaches at the Concert Noble, (Bush's text, Verhofstadt's text), followed by dinner with Jacques Chirac at the American Embassy. The photo essay has two very nice photos from yesterday's manif at the Stock Exchange, and some photos of Guy Verhofstadt looking goofy.

Le Soir reports that the Brussels Tribunal attracted a thousand people to a peacefull rally on the steps of the stock exchange this afternoon. The Brussels Tribunal is modeled on the Russell Tribunal, a vehicle for opposition to the Viet Nam war during the 1960s. Other scheduled demonstrations are:
- lundi à 17 h 30 en face de l'ambassade des Etats-Unis
- mardi à 15 heures au parc du Cinquantenaire
Zondag, 20 februari 2005
De Standaard reports that Bush is meeting first with premier Guy Verhofstadt and the three American Ambassadors in Brussel (Belgium, NATO, and the EU), and that he's accompanied by Laura Bush, Secretary Rice and Stephen Hadley. It also reports that hundreds of people demonstrated in the first of a series of planned demonstrations against Bush this afternoon in Brussel-zentrum.

Latest news I heard is that 1.000 people have protested against Bush's visit to Belgium. Most of them are the usual suspects: trade unions, peace movements and anti-globalists (well, actually different-globalists). Strangely, there were also fifty members of the extreme right-wing (think nationalism, fascism) demonstrating against US influence.

Strange how some news just disappears from sight once it gets to our shores. The CBC had it, but NPR's 'liberals' somehow missed it last night.
