Andaman and Nicobar update

The BBC reports that the Indian military has reverted to the prior mode and no humanitarian assistance or direct observation of the indigenous inhabitants of the Andaman and Nicobar islands is allowed.

Comments

I hate news blackouts about places I know people from. Won't the Indian Army relent and let the world know what's up on those islands?

The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was a magnitude 9.0 undersea earthquake on December 26, 2004 which generated tsunamis that caused one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern history. The earthquake was initially reported as 6.8 on the Richter scale. On the moment magnitude scale, which is more accurate for quakes of this size [1] (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/faq/meas.html), the earthquake's magnitude was first reported as 8.1 by the U.S. Geological Survey, but after further analysis they increased this first to 8.5 and 8.9 and finally 9.0.
