I wasn’t there, but my wife promises that the following story is true.
The kids wanted pizza for dinner tonight. After considering all points of view, Deb decided to order one large spicy meatball pizza and a medium pepperoni pizza. She had a $11.99 coupon for the specialty pizza and a separate $5.00 coupon for an additional a one topping pizza.
Deb called up Papa John’s and the following occurred:
PJ: Hello, would you like to try our large spicy meatball pizza for $11.99?It is not the destination that matters, it is the journey. Sometimes the journey is long.Deb: Yes, that is exactly what I would like.
PJ: What is you phone number...
Deb: I would also like a medium pepperoni for $5.00. I have a coupon.
PJ: I'm sorry but I can't do that.
Deb: Why not?
PJ: The $5.00 one-topping medium coupon is only good if the first pizza is also a medium, you ordered a large.
Deb: How much is the medium spicy meatball?
PJ: $9.99
Deb: Ok, let me have the medium spicy meatball for $9.99 and the medium pepperoni for $5.00.
PJ: Fine, now would you like to Papa-size that?
Deb: What does that mean?
PJ: You can make your medium spicy meatball a large for $2.00.
Deb: So, if I Papa-size it, I get a large spicy meatball for $11.99 and a medium pepperoni for $5.00?
PJ: Yes.
Deb: (long pause filled only with the sound of laughter)
PJ: Ma’am?
Deb: I’ll take that.
And...thankfully, circular.
