This category is intended to identify the one post of the year that stands above all other for originality, insight and writing.
Because we had so many links in this category (over 100), Movable Type began to give serious error warnings after I'd put up about the 50th. By 80, it refused to save. So I've broken the post into two three groups, alphabetically.
One vote per person, you know the drill.

(and here's another one from the other day that just blew me the hell away.)
The guy is truly a national undiscovered treasure.

Posted by: Arancaytar at January 29, 2005 10:37 AMI sometimes get emails asking me to propose solutions or make suggestions. Fine. Today's lesson: don't rape, don't torture, don't kill and get out while you can- while it still looks like you have a choice... Chaos? Civil war? Bloodshed? We’ll take our chances- just take your Puppets, your tanks, your smart weapons, your dumb politicians, your lies, your empty promises, your rapists, your sadistic torturers and go.

Picking The Bones of the Raw Diet Debate! Super Winner!
Posted by: Barb McKee at January 31, 2005 06:55 PMPicking the Bones of the Raw Diet Debate addresses exactly the situation in which I find myself right now, on the verge of getting a new puppy. I already feed raw, I'm open to and willing to go further than I have in the area of holistic health, and I feel somewhat educated in the field; yet my simple, thoughtful questions are most often answered with the one-liner screaming capital letter responses of the no vaccine, whole-carcass crowd. It would be amusing if I didn't want real answers and if it didn't inhibit those who would really appreciate engaging in a dialogue.

Picking the Bones of the Raw Diet Debate at Dogged Blog. Absolutely. Christie has the invaluable knack of making you think without demanding or assuming that you agree with her. And that, after all, seems to be what is important to her.

Christie, you're amazing, you get my entire family's vote, 4 paws up! :-)
Picking the Bones of the Raw Diet Debate at Dogged Blog - got my vote. I rarely bring up dog food or politics at a dinner party for all the passions they can stir up. Christie is so correct that it is knowledge, not fear that should dominate the discussions on both topics. In that respect, there are many parallels to these two seemingly divergent subjects.

Posted by: Diane Mellon at February 3, 2005 10:37 AMIt's sort of cool (in a starving artist kind of way) being a writer. One of the joys of hackery is re-reading a piece written months ago, and thinking: "Man, how did that happen? Did I really write that?"
