The Common Ills. When he or she takes the gloves, watch out NPR ombudsman, Daniel Okrent and everyone else. It's also funny as hell when it does a humor post like "Senator Dumb Butt"; "Rudith Miller" and others.
And "Should This Marrige Be Saved" is a must read for anyone still saying "We're going to turn it around in Iraq."
And did I mention Kat and Kat's Korner? That's a regular feature. Say no to the children of Destiny and their proganda ("Soldier").
"Bullies Without Borders" = the adminstration.
"Bully Boy" = Bush.
This is a blog that can go from "Here's what's on Democracy Now! and in The New York Times" to heavy hitting without stripping the gears.
The "Red" states series was a must read.
They took on the New York Times/CBS Poll and revealed all that was flawed about the day it was published. If you paid attention, Adam Nagourney (who co-wrote the coverage of the poll) only backed off from this "values" debate two Sundays ago. If you read The Common Ills that November day, you didn't have to wait for January for the co-author to disown the "values" debate he pushed.
The Common Ills is the best new blog. It makes me laugh, it makes me think.

I'm Not One to Blog, But...

(I'm pretty sure the comma is supposed to be there, and that But has only one T)

Anyway, INOTBB has, by far, the best drinks and a well-muddled mix of music, politics, and local Santa Barbarishness. Hey, even if you can't afford to live here either, you can still read about it!

While I deeply deeply appreciate the honor of being nominated for a Koufax, I feel obliged to point out that I actually started Gallimaufry in Nov 2003 and have posts in both Nov and Dec. of that year. Bad timing on my part, eh?

I would have emailed you this comment, but Wampum is one of the blogs whose main page does not load correctly in my version of Mozilla for some reason. It flashes briefly on the screen and then disappears leaving the headline above a blank screen.

What a lovely surprise to have while recovering from knee surgery.

"Bradblog"

I vote for www.Bradblog.com aka> Brad Friedman who brings many skills to the blog table ... his web site is powerful with wonderful design, features and layout.

He delivers well written, researched, supported and thought provoking articles that inspire and motivate the masses. His "Clint Curtis" series of articles are indicative of his many talents and "perseverance" to finding the truth.

Judging him by the content of his articles ... I would say Brad Friedman is a journalist that "really" supports and believes in Democracy, America and its citizens. A kind, good hearted, honest person that really cares about people.

Spirited, factual, relevant articles by the creator, Brad Friedman.
All in all, inspiring, uplifting, and motivating.

Best new blog has GOT to go to Princeton Progressivie Review. Look, they're students, they're the future of the movement, and they deserve mega support from the rest of the progressive community. And they write well. And their ideas are interesting- though I don't always agree with them, they really made me rethink some of my ideas on things like affirmative action and free trade. Tied with them is Steve Clemons' The Washington Note - which is deadly smart.

It's a serious blog meant for serious readers. It's fair and factual and does not stray into gossip or prognostication.

BradBlog.com -- If you haven't seen this blog, you are missing a serious reporter who does his work well. The information he has uncovered may lead to something big down the road, if not in the tale of Clint Curtis, than certainly in some other way. His championing of transparent democracy and a laser-like focus on election reform makes him the sort of patriot that politicians claim to be, but wish they were.
If the truth will set you free, than Brad is a freedom fighter in the truest sense -- now carrying that fight to a new level, through development of a spinoff site, VelvetRevolution.us.
BradBlog.com is a model for responsible blogging and the future of Web journalism. Rather than waste your time with endless introspection on the failures of society, he works to fix problems, and seems to be making the kind of difference that most blogs just report about.

weezil from S'truth? STREWTH! is an American living in Australia who has also become an Australian citizen. Covers US & Australian politics from a secular leftist view.

More than just a blogger, weezil is an investigative journalist. He has gotten neo-Nazi/racist websites shut down and exposed the link between a company which sells drug testing equipment and a failed scheme of roadside drug testing in Victoria.

Bob Harris. For two reasons, stated elsewhere:

1) I came across this quote in the bible: And the Disciples bid Jesus stop and do Converse; and when He had finished tightening the laces of those shoes, they asked of Him, "Lord, we have followed you and ministered with you and dodged bricks with you and many of us have scabies and poison ivy from making in the bushes, which is why some of us join in with those in the towns who laugh at you. Forgive us, as it was cruel, but we could not help ourselves. We itch in your service, Lord. We are sure a Healing from You might not be out of order."

And Jesus spoke, saying, And thy point is? Didst thou think this was to be a fun road trip? Didst thou believe it would be like unto the travels of Bob Harris, full of wonder and reflection and small cute animals? Be not like the fig tree, or the red state voter who thinks only on pancakes at iHop and bouncy-bouncy, or the LORD shall make of you a debris cloud. I'm just sayin'.

And the Disciples asked, "Lord, who is this Bob Harris that we might partake of the wonder and reflection?" And Jesus answered, saying, Hoo Boy, do I hafta talk to you people...
(Animal Acts Against The State, 593:2)
[We believe this is from the 'Fats' Waller Version of the bible}

2) U.S.C., Title IX, Sec. 319, para. 2(a) states: "Under control of the Federal Small Animal Administration (established by the Coal Tar and Hyrax Act of 1952, and The Pudu Cost-Benefit Realignment of 1964), small cute animals, humorous politically-motivated social commentary, and the experiental benefits of foreign travel shall be made available to the People through thus and various avenues of commerce and communicative arts as become manifest within the United States from time to time."

The author has a personal background which not only makes a compelling story but gives her a unique perspective on Middle East events, and she makes a point of seeing and celebrating the humanity on all sides rather than treating them as objects.
