December 29, 2004 October is Koufax Pledge Drive month

1 € = $1.36

A year ago today the rate was 1.25. That was viewed as a "psychologically important" barrier. Today it takes 11 more Bush cents to buy a cup of coffee in Paris than it did last year. A year ago it took 20 more Bush cents to buy a cup of coffee in Paris than it did the year before that. Since Bush seized (and Gore abandoned) the government, the price of a cup of coffee in Paris has gone from .85 to 1.36, up 51 cents. And its not because the French are raising their prices, or coffee is any dearer now than it was before December 2000. $1.50 this time next year?

So I guess we'll need to change the old saying to be "that and a euro will buy you a cup of coffee"...

Nah, 1 e = $1.50 this summer. People in Amsterdam (we we there 11/2-11/10) think so too.

I think you're making the mistaken assumption that you can get a cup of coffee in Paris for 1 euro. Good luck!
