December 19, 2004 October is Koufax Pledge Drive month

A former Nutmegger chimes in...

My friend Duncan over at Atrios suggests, per Matt Yglesias' supposition, that if Lieberman chooses to support the dismantling of Social Security, that Progressive Dems should launch a primary challenge in '06.

I have two words to say to such a suggestion.

Rosa DeLauro.

Absolutely! Josh Marshall suggested something very similar on a national basis.

said that we shouldn't pursue this fight.

I disagree. Not only is it a false argument, it doesn't consider the thousands of family members of our dead and disabled soldiers who could lose their survivor and dependent benefits. The Army will not take care of them.

Pull out all the stops because this is junior's "final solution" to Social Security.

We can never reclaim later if we cease to fight now.

Actually, Matt suggest Blumenthal, who is the biggest $%^)@ Indian figher since...ugh, Lieberman!!!!

Like many New England attorney generals (cough, cough, Steve Rowe), Blumental believes that in order to gain the trust of the Connecticut electorate, he has to screw, er, do battle with the Connecticut savage. Stranglely enough, that still, to this day, is the American Indian.

Progressives should turn their backs on those who attempt to strawman the most vunerable in our society, just because the represent "the Other." Rosa DeLauro is a much superior candidate than Blumenthal, for that very reason. She seeks to represent all of her electorate, not merely the white liberal.

I wrote: Nancy's job or Harry's job is to say screw social security, even taxes and the economy. Anything the robbers seize now can be seized back latter, but there are no do-overs on the extraction problem.

Survivor and dependent benefits aren't going to extract the units now materially enfiladed, or halt the next attack, whether Syria or Iran.
