Breaking News from ABCNEWS.com:
An Associated Press count of Iraq casualties shows U.S. military deaths there have passed 1,000.
The thing that alarms me is that every politician and commentator, liberal and conservative, quotes this figure as the "cost of the war" while ignoring the almost 20,000 Iraqi civilians dead. The only place I ever see this quoted is on the "McLaughlin Group", and they just show the number. Nobody EVER says anything about it.
I count the senseless loss of 20,000 lives of people who were just trying to feed their kids and keep their heads down as at least 20 times the cost of 1,000 volunteer soldiers who took on the job knowing the risks.

We've written about Iraqi mortality and morbidity.
