We will have a report out tomorrow from our points of view (MB as caucus convener for the largest municipality in Maine, Eric as one of 20 Portland precinct caucus conveners). The extended entry contains the relevant entries in today's ABC TheNote.
We will take nominatations for county committee members. We will nominate and elect precinct election clerks. Its a paying job, $9/hr, for each election, e.g., our June primary and the November general. We will divide into preference groups, twice, and calculate delegates to the State convention, which in turn will elect 24 pledged delegates to the National convention. Absentee ballots are included in the first (preliminary) calculation only. The second (final) division allows preference groups to realign, should they choose. "Uncommitted" is a preference group. We will nominate and elect actual delegates and alternative delegates from each preference group, according to the prior (final) calculation. Then everyone except the stuckees can go home.
The stuckees are the folks actually working the caucus, from advance publicity to hall clean up. For Portland, MB and Dory Ann are stuckees-in-chief.
The Deering Gym opens at 5pm, and the campaigns each have 5 minutes to make their statement. At 6pm we execute our scripts.
At 4pm two of Jonah's teachers (and last year Sam's also) come in and my POA task pages out, until 8pm when my hard-real-time scheduler pages in the POA thread context and marks the thread "active". I need to pick up a bottle of bubbly -- we're outcomes-independent, other than a successful municipal caucus. More later. Now I have to change, bath, clean, toilet, declutter, feed, bath, change, toilet, feed, declutter. What ever is the html for "repeat"?
[Update: In my precinct, Kucinich got 4 delegates, Kerry and Dean each got 3, and Edwards got 2.]
