Posted by: Anna Granfors at January 25, 2004 02:20 AMHard, but Making Light is the next to last blog I'd give up. So I gotta go with that one (no, the last one isn't here). Body and Soul would be 2nd though...

Posted by: praktike at January 25, 2004 12:30 PMTough to compare the writing in multiple-person blogs with that of single writers. I think the best writing qua writing is Teresa Nielsen Hayden's, but the best overall is Crooked Timber. I'll go with Making Light for first place, Crooked Timber second. All the rest are good and I don't have any obvious preferences.

Easily the best written and researched blog on the net. David presents his views in the most objective manner I have seen. He is a true professional. Regardless of whether you agree or not with what appears to be his leanings towards the left or the right, you can rest assured that his observations and revelations are both truthful, factual, and the epitomy of objectivity.
If you don't have David on your side chances are you're on the wrong side.
Good going Dave!

But I vote for Digby. Even though he doesn't post daily and even though I don't agree with him about General Clark I check out his site every day. Because when he is on he is TOTALLY on. He not only nails it -- he brings you along with him.

Posted by: Leslie at January 26, 2004 06:50 PMI vote for Making Light by Teresa Neilsen Hayden.
Posted by: Dave Kuzminski at January 26, 2004 07:13 PMMs. Nielsen Hayden's painfully eloquent Making Light wins my vote. Talking Points Memo is an excellent blog, but Teresa's prose (and that is, after all, what this category is for) is simply unmatched.

Posted by: Sasha at January 26, 2004 08:08 PMAlmost reluctantly, Orcinus. (Whiskey Bar and TPM tied for 2nd and three-quarters.)

Posted by: Mitch Wagner at January 26, 2004 08:41 PMMaking Light -- because Teresa Nielsen Hayden wields words with the swift grace, precision, and lethal effect of d'Artagnan's rapier. May I never offend her...
(But if I could have a second vote, it would be for Jeanne of Body and Soul.)

Posted by: Niky Ring at January 27, 2004 03:12 PMMaking Light. Teresa Nielsen Hayden presents the widest range of subjects of interest (including many you never suspected were fascinating until just now), and provides the most moments of sweet recognition: yes, THAT'S it! And that's how it must most perfectly be said.
