I'd go with...

- Open Source Politics
- Crooked Timber
- TAPPED
- Kos

Posted by: Andrew Edwards at January 8, 2004 06:51 AM

Many of those mentioned are brilliant (I guess all are, but I don't know them all), but I'd go for:

Corrente
Crooked Timber
Fistful of Euros
Lean Left
Open Source Politics
Pandagon
Seeing the Forest

Posted by: Kristjan Wager at January 8, 2004 08:45 AM

Crooked Timber
Pandagon
TAPPED
Fistful of Euros

Kos is omitted because despite the guest posters and diaries it's still very much one guy's blog.

Posted by: Katherine at January 8, 2004 09:02 AM

Crooked Timber all the way.

Posted by: JP at January 8, 2004 09:54 AM

"Crooked Timber" and "Fistful of Euros" are daily reads for me.

I write for Demagogue and we genuinely appreciate the nomination.

But I have to vote for Daily Kos, Pandagon, En Banc and Crooked Timber

Posted by: Eugene Oregon at January 8, 2004 03:51 PM

Crooked Timber
Tapped

Posted by: Patrick Nielsen Hayden at January 8, 2004 05:50 PM

If it's just any group blog you want, the choice is BoingBoing, no contest. Instinct tells me, though, that most people have blogs of a more political flavor in mind with this category — in which case I give my nod to Crooked Timber, followed by Tapped and the overlooked Random Walks.

Daily Kos
Pandagon

I, too, appreciate being included on this rarefied list. I'm going to nominate my friends at Demagogue. If I could stuff the ballot box for them, I would. They have turned their access to amazing resources into an important source for keeping track of the Right.

Oh, Pandagon rules, too.

Posted by: Oliver at January 9, 2004 12:22 PM

OSP and Corente. Definitely.

Posted by: Charles2 at January 9, 2004 02:39 PM

Crooked Timber I guess... I enjoy several of the contributors, but the thing as a whole is too much, somehow.

My vote is for Corrente.

Posted by: Penny at January 12, 2004 07:25 PM

Well, we're honored to get nominated, and obviously I think we're doing cool things at WorldChanging, but I'd have to say that Daily Kos, BoingBoing and Fistfull of Euros are all more deserving than we.

Posted by: Alex Steffen at January 13, 2004 12:25 AM

Not geniuses and Open Source Politics.

I suppose Daily Kos might be considered a group blog, but that's kind of stretching the definition. A "community site' definitely. But are true group blogs so dominated by a single person as dKos?

At this rate, any blog that has guest posters will suddenly morph into a "group blog". And give that the "guest poster" is an unstoppable trend in the blogosphere, this category might eventually include everyone.

But if everyone is cool with that definition, then so am I :)

Posted by: kos at January 13, 2004 03:18 PM

Flattered by the nomination. We try real hard, and shoveldog certainly has upped the quality on the Stinging Nettle.

But I'd give my votes to Pandagon in the non big-media backed category and TAPPED for big media.

Thanks again, and y'all come visit us now, ya hear?
