Though many of the authors of the nominees for Most Humorous Post are also nominated below, this category seeks to recognize blogs which are consistently humorous while still being thoughful. Once again, we do need to narrow the field, but grap some popcorn and a beer, put your feet up, cover your keyboard with plastic, and expect to pop a rib or three laughing.
Posted by MB Williams at January 6, 2004 03:25 PM | TrackBackPandagon and Roger Ailes are consistently funny, so I nominate them.
The funniest title, however, has got to be "I am eating my Husband's soul"
Posted by: pontificator at January 6, 2004 04:52 PMIf it's humor with thoughtfulness that counts, I'm even more screwed than I thought.
My votes: Fanatical Apathy, Neal Pollack (RIP), Opinions You Should Have, Perfectly Cromulent, Poor Man, TBogg, Very Very Happy, and World o' Crap.
Posted by: norbizness at January 6, 2004 05:02 PMAgain, though I have a lot of these folks on my blogroll, my personal votes for funniest blog go to Opinions You Should Have, The Poor Man, MadKane, Margaret Cho and Jesus' General.
Posted by: Elayne Riggs at January 6, 2004 05:46 PMI go for the intelligent humor, so my picks are
Oliver Willis
Berrys World
This Modern World
GB
Posted by: Gerard Barton at January 6, 2004 06:53 PMWell, this is going well. I guess I'm going to have to start bribing people.
Posted by: roy edroso at January 6, 2004 07:13 PMNorbizness. [Call me a big fan of thoughtless humor.]
Posted by: Greg Greene at January 6, 2004 07:51 PMI can't decide between Opinions You Should Have and Happy Furry Puppy Story Time. Tom Burka writes great Onion-esque stuff, and Norbizness is just that kinda wacko I admire. Fine, I'll call it a tie...
Posted by: NTodd at January 6, 2004 09:29 PMPollack in a walk.

Happy Furry Puppy Story Time
World O'Crap gets my vote.
Posted by: mario at January 7, 2004 10:51 AMI haven't seen all of these regularly, but TBogg and This Modern World always makes me laugh. And Margaret Cho is like no other blog.
Posted by: GWilber at January 7, 2004 10:56 AMFanatical Apathy, no contest, has the funniest content... however TBogg posts more regularly and is my "blue baby" of choice to chase away workplace anxieties. And he can such a dick to that HBG Ann Coulter.
Posted by: NO MSG at January 7, 2004 10:57 AMThe Poor Man. No one else comes close.
Posted by: Patrick Nielsen Hayden at January 7, 2004 11:20 AMTbogg
Posted by: kevin at January 7, 2004 11:59 AMTbogg - thoughtful and snarky in just the right measure.
Posted by: ritam at January 7, 2004 12:20 PMSo many good choices. My personal faves:
Happy Furry Puppy Story Time, aka Norbizness
Perfectly Cromulent
Poor Man
TBogg
MadKane
Pollack
Pandagon
Very Very Happy
These are all terrific, especially Tbogg and Pandagon, but my vote has to go to World O'Crap. She manages to be humorous, thoughtful, AND informative all at the same time, and she posts a ton of stuff every day of the week.
Posted by: Zach at January 7, 2004 01:50 PMPoor Man, Pandagon, TBogg, and, funniest of all, World O'Crap.
Posted by: jackson at January 7, 2004 01:51 PMWell, I see some people would rather indulge their irrational, personal hatred of alicublog than defend our country against terrorism.
Posted by: roy edroso at January 7, 2004 03:30 PMRoy, regardless of the voting, that comment should win an award.
Posted by: dwight meredith at January 7, 2004 04:04 PMMimi
Posted by: skimble at January 7, 2004 04:06 PMIt's a three-way tie: TBogg, This Modern World and World O'Crap.
Posted by: Ivan G. at January 7, 2004 08:41 PMMost of the nominees have made me laugh out loud more than once, but these the most often:
Busybusybusy
Jesus' General
Mad Kane's Notables Weblog

Posted by: julia at January 8, 2004 11:21 AMWittiest Blog? I cast an enthusiastic vote for Norbizness's Happy Puppy Furry Story Time. Definitely not for the addle-pated or the pop- culturally impaired.

Skippy
Poor Man
Oliver Willis
TBogg
World o'Crap
we like oliver willis and tom burka (opinions you should have) and tbogg. we love scoobie davis' work in stalking rightists. we love mad kane's work, and julia's ayn rand pun of sysiphus shrugged. we love uppity negro and pandagon. we love dave barry's work elsewhere as well as in blogtopia (yes! we coined that phrase!) we love tom tomorrow, because he sent us a signed copy of his big book of tomorrow.
but because we coined the phrase "blogtopia," we humbly vote for ourselves (again).
Posted by: skippy at January 9, 2004 01:06 AMFor boogers, giggles, snorts and props' - it's Norbizness!!!

...Neil Pollack in the category of "Discontinued Obscenely Funny Blogs That I Had to Make Sure Never Showed Up In the History, Favorites, or Cookies Directories On My Work Computer"...
Posted by: Jack K. at January 9, 2004 12:36 PMA vote for Skippy the Bush Kangaroo! Everyone loves Skippy! :)
Posted by: Marine's Girl at January 10, 2004 12:35 AMI am releasing my delegates with instructions to vote for Sisyphus Shrugged.
Oops, they both wandered over to watch the Peruvian flute players play "El Condor Pasa." Sorry, Julia.
Posted by: roy edroso at January 10, 2004 12:45 AMTbogg and Bartcop
Posted by: Mark H at January 10, 2004 06:16 AMIn no particular order
Tbogg
skippy, the bush kangaroo
Jesus' General
Margaret Cho
Neal Pollack
Pandagon
Here's an example of why I'll vote for ClownTech.
Posted by: Swopa at January 11, 2004 06:24 PMIt's a sign of the maturation of blogs as a medium that so much excellence exists that few can single out one as superior to the rest.
I cut my blog humor teeth on TBOGG, Skippy and MadKane. Before blogs, I was a Tom Tomorrow fan, though he's a pro (should he get money PLUS kudos competing with amateurs?). (and hey, didn't "Get Your War On' make the cut in this category?)
I'm tempted to say Neal Pollack as the funniest, yet he's abandoned us, which earns some demerits. His blog was aided by guest hosts like Adam Ferber and Tom Burka, if I recall correctly, too.
Pandagon, by adding Ezra, has become a tour de force with the dual interplay.
Jesus' General was my fave for part of the past year and still ranks high.
Norbizness is funny and several others add humor to great writing that would be great even without the humor, like Julia, and Andrew and others.
In the past 6 months, World O'Crap has emerged as a contender forbest NEW humor.
But what's an 'Alicublog'?
(Hehehe, if you had a category for erudite, pithy commentary with snarkasm galore, Roy would compete with TBOGG for that title).
Given all this quality, all I can do is congratulate all for their greatness, then vote according to the laughmeter using humor and consistency as the sole qualifiers.
Based on that minimalist criteria, and setting aside the pros, my vote, in order, would go to:
Opinions You Should Have
TBOGG
Jesus' General
skippy
Pandagon
MadKane
and I'll continue to root for Alicublog in other categories.
Posted by: Kevin Hayden at January 12, 2004 03:25 PMWorld O Crap has my vote!

Posted by: Trish Wilson at January 22, 2004 04:52 PMIt's gotta be World O'Crap. Relentlessly funny, with an undertone of witty, yet withering logic that's like a blast of Round-Up to the weed-like eruptions from TownHall, the NRO Corner, and other parasite farms.
