As I mentioned earlier, I started training this week for a seasonal position (yes, I've joined the millions of under-employed by taking up shop at a local company whose title is comprised of two initials and a kind of legume...) It's the first time I've had to be to work at a set time in about seven years (campaign work is generally much more flexible, though the hours brutal at times.) But my partner and I are just getting our registrar/web hosting business together and it will be a while before the money starts pouring in (ha!), so I've been "hired out", so to speak, so my partner, the real geek, can stay near the servers and get things done.
What this means, however, is that I haven't had a lot of time to write, and I suspect it will only get worse as my hours increase until Christmas. Thank the Creator for Dwight, who is definitely on a roll recently.
So while I hope to get Flashback Friday up later tonight (in between "trick-or-treaters"), it may end up being a Flashback Saturday or Sunday this week. And next week too. And those unemployment numbers on Friday? I'll try and come home at lunchtime and write them up, but it might not be until later in the afternoon. Real life intrudes.
On the positive side, sometime in the next ten days, we'll mark Wampum's one year anniversary. I have to look up the exact date, but I know it was soon after the election, when my candidate, and friend, Chellie Pingree failed in her bid to unseat Susan Collins. I'll be sure to mark the day.
Thank you for all your patience.
Update: Well, I was wrong: Flashback Friday ended up permanently delayed this weekend, as yesterday my computer spent the day in pieces and I've now run out of free time. I guess this Friday I'll just expand it to include some of last week's more striking headlines.
